Artillery Sheds at the Chinati Foundation Location:
1 Cavalry Row - Marfa, Texas Completed in 1981, we put this job on our site just for fun. Two sheds house the permanent installation of 100 aluminum boxes by artist Donald Judd. Overhead doors were removed from the former US Army artillery sheds. 72 aluminum frames designed by Judd were fabricated on site and installed and glazed with clear glass. If you look closely you can see Judd’s boxes sitting on the floor
inside. There is nothing exciting about our installation, but the experience working with the world’s most renowned minimalist has resulted in a very long and interesting story. Contact us for the long version.
